MANOOSH PIZZA is a marvellous pizza venue with a difference. They have two locations; the mothership in Enmore and their latest in Marrickville. Most pizza joints you would associate with Italian food or fast food crap but Manoosh is Lebanese. Their menu has a lot of Aussie and/or traditional pizzas you can order from other pizza joints but these are all Lebanese in the making and influence and all taste a little bit better. On top of that the other foods they offer will blow your mind. I am glad they aren’t on the Northern Beaches – chances are I would be much larger from stuffing my face with their delights.

ABOUT MANOOSH PIZZA:

If you haven’t heard of Manoosh before they are a Lebanese pizzeria specialising in modern pizzas and traditional Lebanese street food – flatbreads, dips, man’oushe, desserts – which is unlike anything else out there in Sydney.

They also specialise in vegan pizzas – YES VEGAN PIZZAS – something that you can imagine goes gangbusters this close to Newtown. There’s a couple of places around the area that are doing something similar but Manoosh has a sneaky source of some amazing vegan cheese which has made them famous with the plant murdering population.

Last year they opened their second restuarant in Marrickville and just a few months back they won the top prize at the Menulog Restuarant of The Year Awards and got named in Good Food’s top pizza places in Sydney.

Their venue’s aren’t large – they are more takeaway joints with a few tables but we ate in and loved it. I just wish we visited with more than two people. Four would have been preferable so we could have ordered more and I could have sampled more – the food is bloody amazing!

THE MENU:

Manoosh Pizzeria specialises in so many things. Their modern Aussie pizzas look sublime and the one we ate was phenomenal. They make some incredibly Lebanese pizzas, wraps and triangle closed pizzas – more commonly known as pide. They make sambousik, wings, felafel, smoky chorizo and other stuffed balls plus dips and salads to make you swoon. And I haven’t even mentioned their desserts yet. This place would be heaven for locals, I would eat in or get delivery a few nights a week.

WHAT WE ATE AND THOUGHT:

  • Cheese and Spinach Pie – Cheese, spinach mix and fetta coated with sesame seeds in a triangle pie – Vegetarian
  • Pirate’s Catch – Cheese, garlic king prawns, mushroom, onion, olives, fresh tomato, Haloumi,oregano & garlic on a tomato base
  • Choc Halloumi Puff Pastry – A delicious blend of our ferrero mix, Haloumi & banana enclosed in puff pastry
  • Wild Blueberry Puff Pastry – A delicious blend of white chocolate and wild blueberries  enclosed in puff pastry.

Our first dish, the cheese and spinach pie, set the tone of awesome. My one sadness was that I didn’t get a Zaatrar bread to share, I worship the zaatar – so divine! Definitely a must for next time. The second dish, The Pirate’s Catch was more something I would imagine from a gourmet pizza joint of any nationality. It was perfectly made with marvellous flavours, a superb base and abundant ingredients. I would order this again!

Next up we moved quickly to dessert haha. Their puff pastry desserts are next level. Now our only gripe with the entire meal was with the Chocolate and Halloumi Puff Pastry – while it tasted marvellous I don’t actually think there was any halloumi in it. Neither of us could taste it. But the chocolate ferrero mix was sublime and I even ate all the banana.

But our last dessert was perfection. It was upper level Insta Food Porn that made my eyes roll back into my head. White chocolate and wild blueberries as a melted joy wrapped in a puff pastry. One of my favourite dishes of 2017 – just perfection.

IN CONCLUSION:

No word of a lie – one of the best pizza places I have indulged at. The uniqueness of being a Lebanese Pizza joint that is also famed with vegans is a big tick for Manoosh Pizzeria. Their pide style pizzas and their modern pizzas are near perfection and their white chocolate and blueberry dessert puff pastry made me foodgasm multiple times. If I am ever in the Enmore or Marrickville area I will be visiting this place again.
