Thanks to the fantastic peeps at DISHES I got sent an awesome calendar for 2016 – the DISHES calendar, the ideal calendar for all foodies, home cooks and lovers of food stuffs. It is a baker’s dozen month calendar and each month showcases one of Australia’s finest chefs and a recipe of theirs for you to cook at home. Some superb photography of some amazing chefs – the photographs make these food maestros look hot – who the hell is Michael Demagistris from EAST on the Mornington Peninsula? New fave chef pin-up – he makes me hungry hahaha.

But!!!! The DISHES calendar is more than just a calendar for pin-up chefs and amazing food, all  proceeds go towards funding Restore One’s training centre and not-for-profit cafe in Phnom Penh.

What is Restore One?

For many young Cambodian women, born \ without the privilege of money or education, a life of dignity is often out of reach. Many end up in forced labour or slavery – unable to find any other way to make a living, pay their debts or support their families. Unless action is taken now, this cycle of poverty will affect generations to come.

Restore One’s overarching passion is to bring about change in Cambodia, one community at a time. The organisation seeks to change lives in a way that is both tangible and sustainable by placing a key focus on education. From houses for the homeless to micro-business for the unemployed, potential projects are assessed with one question in mind: “Will this have a genuine and lasting impact on the lives of these people?”

Restore One’s not-for-profit cafe and training centre in Phnom Penh serves as a home and training ground for many vulnerable women. The centre equips participants with the knowledge and skills to maintain a career in the hospitality industry and break the dangerous cycle of human trafficking – all while serving some of Phnom Penh’s best loved burgers!

So basically this is my ULTIMATE charity, it supports young women for a better future while making burgers – it is a planetary win win!!!

The DISHES calendar is an amazing idea and is filled with so much yummy food – I plan to cook each recipe each month, some of them look challenging and can push my home cooking skills. To suss one of the recipes you can download Braden White’s braised Wagyu short rib with parsley purée, roasted onion, brussels shells & horseradish right HERE to get you started.

If you need stocking fillers, want to do something for a good cause that supports women, education and a better world then you can buy the calendar direct from HERE, and suss out the Dishes website – it’s impressive and you can also stalk them on instagram – all the links on their website.

And while the calendar is being marketed as “It’s all for the ladies” you can all back off, I saw Michael Demagistris first :).
