I have wanted to visit ALBERT & MOORE ever since I read about its opening quite a few months back. A cafe/ restaurant in Freshwater on the Northern Beaches of Sydney ALBERT & MOORE is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and focuses on healthy and nutritious food and has a great selection of paleo meals that are highlighted on the menu. I took my parental units here for breakfast this past week for my stepdad’s belated birthday present. When I told mum I was taking them to a paleo cafe she moaned and asked if it would have bread haha. ALBERT & MOORE is not a paleo restaurant but it does cater for them and other health inspired eaters.

The venue is beach rustic chic and has a very welcoming atmosphere – mum insisted on sitting inside for warmth but the outside did have heaters and a cool box filled with blankets for added warmth – loved that little touch. The staff were really friendly and we were always taken care of. There really was nothing I could fault with our experience. We got water on arrival, staff were great, coffee was delicious and food was blissful.

They have a huge menu with different options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, they cater to kids, specialise in some wickedly awesome juices and smoothies and their dinner menu is Italian inspired.

The parental units both ordered the EGGS YOUR WAY $15- With bacon, sausage, roast tomato on sourdough or grain toast Poached, fried or scrambled. It looked amazing and they both loved it. Mum couldn’t finish it so someone scored extra bacon – oink oink!

We all went protein breakfasts but they also have superb looking fruit and muesli dishes and this one looked good – ACAI BOWL with homestyle granola, strawberries, banana & shaved coconut $11- and the SMASHED AVOCADO (also sounded delightful for only $11-) Roasted tomato, Spanish onion, low fat ricotta & basil oil on toasted sourdough add your eggs $4.

Then there was my meal, one of the best breakfasts I have ever ordered. PALEO PROTEIN STACK $20- Sirloin steak, poached eggs, bacon, rocket & tomato toss, avocado served with a sweet potato rösti & aioli. I am drooling just thinking about it all over again. I think I will make this a monthly treat. The steak was perfect, the eggs perfect, bacon drool, avocado amazing and it was stacked so well I didn’t even see the rösti on the bottom, a fantastic surprise when I got through half the rocket & tomato toss.

The venue definitely counters to everyone, eat loving people, paleo people, gluten free people, little people, sweet tooth people (that affogato needs to be inside me) and even post work out people. The juices are epic and all cold pressed utilising every healthy ingredient that is cool and wanted at this point in time. As are their smoothies that also have almond and soy alternatives and spirulina and protein powder options. This place really does cater for everything and being the beachy suburb it is on the Northern Beaches it is exactly what is needed in the area.

As I mentioned in my review for JB & SONS (also in Freshwater) this suburb is on an astronomical rise, and while epically smaller than Manly it is a suburb housing constant great food venues and for me is now my preferred suburb for food and funkiness on the beaches. Definitely one of the best places I have been to breakfast  and I will definitely be back. My one problem is I will never eat anything else on the breakfast menu because that Protein Stack is too good to pass over. Perhaps I need to hit it up for lunch next, did I mention they also cater to burger addicts?

That protein stack Suze – just sublime – not sure if I would call it the “perfect potato rosti” I am no rosti expert BUT as a combo with everything else the dish as a whole is brilliant. Thanks for reading 🙂

Howdy, I grew up with a cook mum who made many many nomnoms. My passion has always been four things: food, movies, photography and wine. Somehow this meant I would become a cinema projectionist/ technician, food critic, home cook, food photographer and wine addict - so basically win win - enjoy life and NEVER diet - just be healthy :)
